I came on to Channel 17 around 1991.

It was full of Base Stations in Downtown San Francisco 'cutting it up' with each other

and helping Truckers get to the Golden Gate Bridge.

The East Bay Stations used Channel 25 for there Home Channel.

We would go up to there to 25 and throw tomatoes at each other,

and they came down to ours to do the same!

Hill Rider 351 would do ROLL CALL every Wednesday night at 8 0'clock

on Channel 13....you tried to be the  #13  on 13  just after 8...you had to time it,

and Hill Rider would tell everyone who it was for the night.

After a few years The Mud Ducks with their "Boxes" killed it , and

the FCC shut it all down.

...... Hahahahaha..........Truckers who came into town looking for "Some Local"....

in to how to get somewhere..... got good tips....unless they called it "The Gay Bay"...

....then they good advice on how to go the wrong way....."You can't take your 18 wheeler down Van Ness to get

to the Golden Gate Bridge...you have to go down Polk St. to get there!"

I had a blast until around 2005 when all  the Base Stations in SF  were gone.......

......Died or moved away.......And the Truckers now used cell phones.

In 2007 I moved into my new house, not far away from where I was in SF,

put up an Antenna and still  heard nothing............

So I thought I would take this Empty Channel 17  and see if I could make a friend or contact on it. .....   ...

... ........  .....   .....    "Anyone out there for a Radio Check....and a wave?..... ......  ...

........ >  2008  ..... .... ....."Ya! Sand Box ."  "Cool... Greenfish 618 with a wave back!"

.........Ok.......I'll make a Web Site and put my friends on it one by one....And they will make friends.....

I'll change my Radio Number to.....217 and give all my new pal's here in  SF  a number also.

2 now meaning a San Francisco Base Station...and two of your favorite numbers.

Soon..."California Kid 225 waving!"...."Orion 278 waving right back!"

"Five Dollar Bill 250 here! Good copy!"

"941 here...can hear you both, nice to meet you!".........."Bill Unit 248 has a copy on Six Stringer 290 with my new Antenna!"

"Lightfoot 220 with my Station somewhere in the clouds with a wave!"

By 2012 there were over a hundred  Stations  in  SF  and around the the Bay Area.

I had them all listed on the web site. It was a blast again!

Now here in 2018  Channel 17  is still alive!..."Hay! Floyd The Barber 259 here! and I've come to kick some cans!.....

I hope I catch you for a Wave,  some Rag Chewing & Can Kicking........73!
